I've been told not to cry,
I never understood why.
Now I know, to them it wasn't right.
I've been told what I had to look like, I've been told how to talk,
I've even been told how to walk.
But I can't change, not for anyone,
Do you know what it's like?
To feel dumb?
It makes me feel numb.
I feel anxiety near,
I have tried to shake this fear.
Self loathing then interferes, clouds over my head,
And it stays there even when I go to bed.
I sit and look up to the sky, Contemplating life and wonder why.

In this world why can't we love?
I believe this day with united states president we need change but is he right for the white house?

But heaven knows I'm helping them, I'm bringing back the poor.
Mama always taught me right from wrong.
Daddy told me to be a tough man and to grow up strong.
So here I am fighting like daddy said.
But, here I am thinking with my head.
So I'm also doing what my mama said.
Life don't always go the way you want it to.
So here I am fighting, for what I think is true.
The guns go off and I'm lost and I'm broken, but nobody gives a damn.
Everyone is there for themselves, instead of helping you, everybody ran.
Mama never taught me to be this way.
Daddy says you don't always have to be a hero, if you cry, it's okay.
When you know you did the best that you could, you know you didn't die.
Stand up brave, admit your fears
But at least you didn't lie.
Mama's eyes were watery, I think she's gonna cry.
They know I made it home, I wipe my tears, at least I didn't die.
